Teeth Gap Treatment in Hyderabad
By Dr. CH Vyshnavi, MDS (Prosthodontics & Implantology), with Dr. Shiva, MDS (Orthodontics) · V R Dental Maxillofacial Surgery & Implant Center, Kukatpally and Bowrampet
A gap between the front teeth can be closed in one visit with composite bonding, over a few months with aligners or braces, or with veneers when the teeth also need reshaping. Which one is right depends on why the gap is there. At V R Dental in Kukatpally and Bowrampet, every gap is assessed by an MDS prosthodontist and an MDS orthodontist before we suggest a treatment.
Teeth gap filling (composite bonding) starts from ₹2,000 for the pair of front teeth. Veneers start from ₹5,000 per tooth (composite) and ₹18,000 per tooth (porcelain). Clear aligners start from ₹80,000 and braces from ₹45,000. You get a written quote before any treatment begins.

Why the cause of the gap decides the treatment
Two gaps that look the same in a mirror can need very different treatment. Before we close a gap, we find out what opened it:
- Tooth size: the teeth are slightly small or narrow for the jaw, so space is left over. Bonding or veneers suit this well.
- Jaw and tooth position: the teeth are spaced or tilted. Moving them with aligners or braces gives the most stable result.
- A low lip frenum: the band of tissue under the upper lip sits between the front teeth and holds them apart. It may need a minor frenectomy before or alongside closure.
- Tongue thrust or habits: the tongue pushes forward when swallowing and keeps reopening the space. If the habit isn’t addressed, any closure tends to relapse. See how to stop tongue thrust.
- Gum disease: a gap that is new or widening, especially with bleeding gums, can mean the teeth are losing bone support. Gum treatment comes first. Closing the gap cosmetically would only hide the problem.
If the space is where a tooth is missing, that is a different treatment. See dental implants or implants vs bridges vs dentures.
Teeth gap treatment options
Composite bonding (teeth gap filling)
Tooth-coloured composite resin is added to the sides of the teeth to close the space. It is matched to your shade and shaped by hand, usually in a single visit.
- Suits: small gaps between otherwise straight, healthy teeth
- Visits: usually one
- Drilling: little or none; the tooth surface is only lightly prepared
- Lasts: several years with good care; the edges can stain or chip and may need polishing or a touch-up
- Cost: from ₹2,000 for the pair of teeth
Composite or porcelain veneers
A thin layer covers the front of the tooth, closing the gap and changing the shape or shade at the same time. Before we prepare any tooth, Dr. Vyshnavi plans the new shape on a lab wax-up and lets you see it as a trial smile in your own mouth.
- Suits: a gap along with small, worn, chipped or discoloured front teeth
- Visits: one for composite; two or three for porcelain
- Lasts: porcelain resists staining better and generally lasts longer than composite
- Cost: composite veneers from ₹5,000 per tooth; porcelain veneers from ₹18,000 per tooth. See veneers in Hyderabad.
Clear aligners
A series of removable trays moves the teeth together gradually. This closes the gap with your own teeth, which is often the most conservative option when the gap comes from tooth position. Dr. Shiva plans each case from a digital intraoral scan.
- Suits: gaps from spacing or tilted teeth, including several gaps
- Time: small, simple gaps often close within a few months; Dr. Shiva will give you a timeline after your scan
- Cost: aligners from ₹80,000; Invisalign from ₹1,20,000
Braces
Braces suit gaps that come with bite problems, crowding elsewhere, or larger movements. Dr. Shiva does every adjustment himself.
- Suits: larger gaps, gaps with bite or crowding issues
- Cost: metal braces from ₹45,000; ceramic from ₹55,000; self-ligating from ₹65,000. See orthodontics.
Combined treatment
Some gaps close best with two steps. For example, aligners move the teeth most of the way and bonding then reshapes small teeth. Treatment may also include a frenectomy or gum treatment before closure. Your quote lists each step separately.
Closing a gap without braces
If you don’t want braces, there are three options:
- Bonding: same day, minimal change to the tooth
- Veneers: when the shape or colour also needs correcting
- Clear aligners: these move the teeth without brackets or wires; they are removable and hard to see
Bonding and veneers close the gap by adding width to the teeth. They don’t move the teeth. That works well for small gaps. A large gap closed only with bonding can leave front teeth that look too wide, and in that case moving the teeth first usually looks more natural.
Can a teeth gap be closed permanently?
A closed gap stays closed when the cause has been dealt with:
- After aligners or braces: teeth tend to drift back unless you wear a retainer. A bonded wire behind the front teeth or a night-time retainer keeps the result. See retainers.
- After bonding: the gap stays closed, but the composite itself needs occasional maintenance over the years.
- If a habit or frenum caused the gap: it has to be treated, or the space usually reopens.
- If gum disease caused the gap: the gums must be stable first; otherwise the teeth keep moving.
We’d rather tell you honestly what your gap needs than offer a quick closure that reopens in a year.

Questions patients ask about teeth gap treatment
How much does teeth gap filling cost in Hyderabad?
At V R Dental, composite bonding for a small gap between the front teeth starts from ₹2,000 for the pair. The fee depends on the gap width and whether the shape or shade of the teeth is corrected at the same time.
Is teeth gap filling permanent?
Bonding keeps the gap closed, but the composite usually needs polishing or a touch-up after several years. If the gap came from a habit, frenum or gum problem, that must be treated or the space can reopen.
Can a gap between front teeth be closed in one day?
Yes, if the gap is small and the teeth and gums are healthy. Composite bonding is usually done in a single visit without injections.
Does gap filling damage the teeth?
Bonding needs little or no drilling, so very little natural tooth is removed. Porcelain veneers need some enamel reduction, which we plan on a wax-up first.
Bonding, veneers or aligners: which is better for a gap?
Bonding suits small gaps. Veneers suit gaps along with tooth shape or colour problems. Aligners suit gaps caused by tooth position, and they close the space with your own teeth.
How long do aligners take to close a front-teeth gap?
Small, simple gaps often close within a few months. Dr. Shiva will give you a timeline once he has your digital scan.
Will my gap come back after treatment?
After aligners or braces, teeth can drift back without a retainer. After bonding, the gap stays closed as long as the cause has been addressed.
My child has a gap between the front teeth. Should it be treated?
A gap in young children is often normal and may close as the permanent canines come in. Our pedodontist, Dr. Balaji, can check whether it needs any treatment or should just be monitored.
